About Me

My photo
I am a retired RN with 50 years of experience. My experience spans ICU, ER, Telemetry, Administrative Supervision and Clinical Documentation Integrity. I grew up on a farm in Western Pennsylvania. I didn't have other children close by to play with, so animals became my friends. Although I love and enjoy all animals, cats have always been my favorite. I have lived in Southern California since 1980. My husband and I are coexisting with Fanny. She is the DIVA that inspired my book and this blog. I hope you enjoy reading about my feline friends. I also share some childhood memories which may spark some memories of your own.

I have no idea if you have a cat, but if you do, you know that they are part of your family

They are special!

We humans have been chosen by those little fur balls. Chosen to provide shelter, food, water, and loads and loads of love.

They in return show us so much love that sometimes you will feel they are smothering you with that love.

That love they show us is unconditional.

They can read our emotions just like we can read theirs.

We are responsible for their health. We are responsible to get them spayed or neutered.

Even though your cat may be strictly an indoor cat, they need all of their vaccinations and yearly check-ups.

During their yearly check-ups, the Vet follows their lab work, weight, general physical condition, and teeth.

The dental exam is important since they can develop tooth decay and gum problems which can develop into infections.

As your cat ages, it may need some special care.  This may include diet changes and medications. With the correct care, they can live to an age of 20+ years.

Note: If you do decide to get pet health insurance they usually won't initially insure a cat that is over 12 years old. Make sure you read and compare policies because most don't cover routine care and there may be big deductibles. Chose wisely.

And if you are thinking about getting your first cat/kitten, go to your local shelter. There are many little faces to look at and see if you can feel a connection.

You will be making a commitment and gaining a wonderful friend.

They deserve your affection and they will show you unbelievable affection in return.

Hug your fur babies!

Darlene
